Long
time James Hylton fan Ray Lamm of Richmond, VA (pictured at left with James)
recently obtained two pictures of James in victory lane after capturing the 1970
Richmond 500 on March 1, 1970. The Richmond 500 victory was the first
outing for Hylton's 1969 Ford Torino and was also James' first Grand National
win.
Hylton led 160 laps of the 500 lap race on
the .542 mile track. On the final lap, Hylton was 15 seconds ahead of
second place finisher Richard Petty and pocketed $ 5,195 for his efforts.
