at
Berlin:
Memphis,
TN
(July
17,
2006)
–
Seventy
One-year
old
racing
legend
James
Hylton
recorded
his
first
ARCA
RE/MAX
series
DNF
of
the
year
at
Berlin
Speedway
on
Saturday
night.
Hylton’s
2005
Ford
Taurus
began
overheating
on
lap
17
and
the
Hylton
Motorsports
crew
worked
feverously
on
the
car
to
correct
the
problem.
However,
by
lap
33
it
had
became
apparent
that
the
engine
problems
could
not
be
corrected
and
the
car
was
parked
for
the
night,
winding
up
in
31st
position.
“Berlin
is
a
very
demanding
race
track
on
both
driver
and
equipment”
states
Hylton
“I
ran
across
a
drainage
grate
in
turn
four
at
the
beginning
of
the
race
and
severely
damaged
the
left
front
of
the
chassis.”
During
his
career,
Hylton
had
competed
two
other
times
at
Berlin,
with
a
30th-place
finish
in
1999
and
a
34th-place
finish
in
2002.
James
had
nothing
but
praise
for
relatives
of
two
of
his
former
NASCAR
NEXTEL
CUP
associates,
that
competed
last
weekend
at
Berlin.
Brian Keselowski,
the
nephew
of
former
NEXTEL
CUP
driver
Ron
Keselowski,
was
the
winner
of
the GFS
/
Sara
Lee
200.
“Brian
is
a
tremendous
talent,”
states
James
“he
won
the
race
in
a
car
that
sustained
very
little
damage
at
a
very
demanding
short-track
and
that
is
very
impressive. "
Former
Daytona
500
winner
Derrike
Cope’s
niece,
Angela
Cope
finished
22nd
in
the
Jennifer
Belmont
Ford.
Derrike
has
driven
in
the
NASCAR
Craftsman
Truck
series
in
a
truck
owned
by
James
and
was
also
Hylton’s
teammate
at
the
2006
AT&T
250
at
The
Milwaukee
Mile.
Hylton
said
“Angela
is
an
excellent
driver
and
showed
a
lot
of
determination
in
making
the
change
to
the
3,400
lb
stock
cars;
Angela
has
a
very
bright
future
ahead
in
this
sport.
"
The
season
has
been
termed
the
"White
Flag
Tour"
and
brings
one
of
the
most
impressive
careers
in
motorsports
to
a
close.
Hylton
entered
the
racing
scene
in
a
big
way
with
an
impressive
second
place
finish
in
the
season-long
NASCAR
Grand
National
standings
in
1966.
Hylton
was
also
voted
"Rookie
of
the
Year"
for
the
season
and
still
holds
the
NEXTEL
CUP
record
for
being
the
highest
placing
rookie
in
a
season.
Hylton's
storied
career
also
includes
ten
top-10
finishes
in
the
NASCAR
season
long
points
championship
as
well
as
victories
at
Talladega
and
Richmond
in
NEXTEL
CUP
and
Daytona
in
the
Grand
American
Series.
Special
Thanks.....
Hylton
Motorsports
would
also
like
to
thank
Tyler
Nawrocki
of
Berlin,
Michigan
for
going
over
and
beyond
the
call
of
duty
in
assisting
with
the
overheating
problem
in
the
Sarah
Lee
/
GFS
Marketplace
200.
His
help
and
assistance
is
greatly
appreciated
by
James
and
the
