KENTUCKY  RACE  REPORT and PIX

Memphis, Tennessee (July 8, 2006)  - Seventy one year old stock car legend James Hylton scored a 23rd place finish in the WLWT Channel 5 - 150, Friday night at Kentucky Speedway.  Hylton completed 102 of the 110 laps and scored his third top twenty-five finish of the 2006 ARCA RE/MAX Series season.  "Kentucky Speedway is probably is the most beautiful facility we race" stated James "it's natural beauty makes this one of my favorite stops on the schedule". The 23rd place finish was quite an improvement over the 40th and 33rd place finishes recorded in 2005 by Hylton Motorsports driver T. J. Bell.  Bell was sidelined by accidents in both events at the 1 1/2 mile track during the 2005 ARCA RE/MAX Series season.

James Hylton is competing in the full ARCA RE/MAX Series in 2006 and will end his fabled driving career at the final series race in Iowa.  "I've been so busy enjoying this season, that the reality of this  being my last season didn't really hit me till this weekend " states Hylton.  "Before the race a fan came up to me and said that he had came to the track just to watch me race one last time and I guess that kind of served as a wake up call that I am actually starting to wind my career down".  The season has been termed the "White Flag Tour" and brings one of the most impressive careers in motorsports to a close.

Hylton entered the racing scene in a big way with an impressive second place finish in the season-long NASCAR Grand National standings in 1966.  James was also voted "Rookie of the Year" for the season and still holds the NEXTEL CUP record for being the highest placing rookie in a season.  Hylton's storied career also includes ten top-10 finishes in the NASCAR season long points championship as well as victories at Talladega and Richmond.
